I've taken my eBook from Amazon

AI in the publishing industry

Keep reading to find more about my opinion on AI in the publishing industry and writing. Be aware that it is a very small post to raise awareness and explain a bit about my choices. If I were to write everything I feel and have learned about this topic, I would have to write a book. Thank you!

Recently I've unpublished Princess of Chaos eBook from Amazon. It already wasn't available on Ku since a month ago, but now, with the new AI Tech they implemented - let's be honest, no one asked for this, they just want to train their AI - I no longer feel comfortable sharing my eBook in their platform. This might not be a long-term decision, I don't like to make promises because I don't know what the future will look like.

At the moment it's predicted that other self-publishing platforms will follow their steps. More and more other companies and self-publishing firms will be implementing AI - either to train their AI or to "help readers".  So my question is: until when can I harm my career over things I can't control? On one hand, readers don't like AI; and I believe AI SHOULD NOT belong into any Art field. On the other, Amazon is the biggest platform for Indie Authors. So where do we stand at?

Is it fair to ask of me to not do what is best for my career in the long-term because the big companies are not listening to us? Us - readers, writers, artists, musicians. Us that create and hold onto art because we know is the very essence of humanity.

What I know, is that it's not fair that I have to choose between my success and to save my art. If I would have left my eBook on Amazon, they would have feed it into their AI. All this situation is not fair. But we have to learn how to deal with it and find the best ways to do so, even if we can't predict the future. We have our voices, we will continue to speak up and go against all this AI that is being pushed down our throats at every single moment.

Princess of Chaos paperback is still available on Amazon and I don't have plans of removing it, for now. The eBook of POC can be found here, on my website - for a much lower price than it was on Amazon. A Fate Worse Than Death eBook will be available for Pre-order and will be released here - on my website. The paperback might be published on Amazon. Because I'm not US based, it's the only way I can hold the book in my hands. At least, it's the only way I've found until now.

As I've said, I won't make promises regarding Amazon. However, if you've found other, better options for Indie Authors, please let me know!

Disclaimer: I don't hate AI and I believe it can be used in Science and Technology. I don't like how people use AI to substitute their brains, and I don't like how people use Generative AI to make "art".
